The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be my God, the rock of my salvation

Out of the Mouths of {conservative} Babes

A true story from the Library parking lot this afternoon.
Ryland noticed an ‘Obama – Biden’ bumper sticker on the back of a GMC Denali as we pulled into our parking space.  He sincerely inquired, “Do the GMCs roll off the line with Obama stickers already on them since they are made by ‘Government Motors’?”
I *really* hoped to find the owner of said vehicle inside the library so we could personally ask … imagine, being shamed by a six-year old!!

The Only Political Sign That Matters is in My Yard

Remember, America?
Why you have been SO blessed ...
Who it is that has blessed you ...
The Truth you were founded on ...

Because this really is all that matters when we vote on Tuesday.
Pray and Vote.

May the One True God be Lord of our country once again.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD
-Psalm 33:12

{And you have sidewalk chalk and a mission field in your neighborhood, too, yes?  Would you be willing to take a stand and be a Daniel and get the message out to your neighbors?}

Children left to themselves ...

Will build themselves a hot air balloon, using the most basic of materials.
{Excepting Dad's air bubble}

They were deflated, but not discouraged, to find out that this contraption wouldn't really take to the air.  I admire so much their creativity and determination!  Just one more plug for the freedom of home educating.

{And yes, sometimes these children left to themselves really do complete the well-known Proverb.  I just don't happen to have my camera in hand as often when that happens!}

Our Sons ... we are so blessed!

Sunday Afternoon Walk

Through Arbor Lodge ... a favorite family tradition.

{ I'm thinking we snagged a Christmas card photo while we were enjoying the sights! }

Farm Tools

Perhaps this will always be one of my favorite farm photos

Even Better

This is even better than receiving an apple from my students . . .

I think I moved from 'love' to 'like' status after I announced the spelling test.
Such is life when you are a homeschooling Mom!

A Parenting Secret

Truly, they teach me far more than I could ever teach them.

A Thing for Shoes

It makes me a bit teary to think of all the adventures these feet will experience this year, and the adventures we'll be leaving behind.

Anyone else have a thing for shoes?

And another year begins- by His grace- to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Savior.

Little Minuteman

It's too hot to be outside today, so we are staying in and listening to Johnny Tremain
on CD.  Ryland always gets fully into character.

{Revolutionary clothes compliments of Gramma Carol and the musket a product of imagination and a bucket of Tinker Toys.}

Giving the thumbs up for "Faster"

Fifty weeks, one day.  The countdown is in full swing for Family Camp 2013!

Speed. I am Speed.

We had just *a bit* of fun in Michigan.

Many thanks to Kyle for these awesome pictures, Luke for disregarding my husband's desire to not go fast enough to tip, Sarah for keeping my babies safe in the boat while we were playing and the D family for praying for us from the beach.

Just 354 days until we can do it again . . . can't wait.

Future Aspirations

A recent conversation between Ryland and a young lady named Emma:

"Those are nice spurs there, Ryland.  Do you want to be a cowboy when you grow up?"

"Aw, no.  I'm fixin' on being a bachelor."

"A bachelor???"

"Yeah."

"Why do you think you'll be a bachelor?"

"Because I'm already six and I haven't found one girl who I'd even think would make a good wife!"

Dog Person

It's almost official that I've become one of 'those people'.
A dog person.
Judging by the number of pictures I've taken of this silly little mutt,
 this is how I could be described.
But who can resist this little ball of energy with ears bigger than his body and who snores and sleeps on his back?
You would give in, too.

Puppy . . . and then there were EIGHT

Walter came home on Sunday.
And he brought a friend.
Her fancy name is Fur Elise, but folks in these parts are fond of calling her
 Liesy.
It's a long story.
What's even longer is how we ended up with eight puppies at our home.
This is how it seems to go with our family!

Liesy on the attack.  Tarver was quite surprised.

I'm looking for good homes for six of these cuties.  Tonight.  And I'm telling you, this is an extremely fortunate time to have oodles of neighbor girls, because they have been amazing help in this time of puppy overload.  Did I mention we are only puppysitting until Sunday?  And looking for homes tonight.  Call me!
